David Fraser is a British author and expert on the inner workings of that country’s Criminal Justice system. He worked for 26 years in the British Probation Service, Courts and Prisons; he also worked as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst for many years and in 1998 gave verbal evidence to the House of Commons on Alternative Sentencing.

David Fraser argues that community based sentences and probation orders have simply left criminals free to cause mayhem in their communities, while the systems obsession with the well-being of criminals has overridden its concern for their victims, whose interests and sufferings are callously ignored. He suggests successive governments’ failure to carry out what is their first duty – to protect their citizens – threatens to undermine democracy itself, as more and more people – exasperated by the blatant injustice of the criminal justice system – take the law into their own hands.

His book “A Land Fit for Criminals” is the result of many years of research and involvement with the British criminal justice system.

David Fraser is coming to New Zealand as the guest of the Sensible Sentencing Trust and will undertake an extensive tour and media campaign.
